Being a homeopath is a life full of “aha” moments, and that is precisely why it still intrigues me today. My clients hear me say this all the time: homeopathy is an intelligent medicine. It knows where to go and what to do. It is also a medicine of resonance, and when you touch an ailment with the correct resonance, a harmonious orchestra of healing begins to unfold.

This happened in a particular case, and I would like to share it.

For those who are not familiar with Bufo, it is a secretion from a DMT-containing toad native to the deserts of Mexico. Some seekers inhale it in pursuit of healing, self-discovery, or freedom from addiction. It is also, like many substances in nature, a homeopathic remedy.

Because these circles are small, I will keep the background details intentionally vague. The client was a man with a history of inhaling Bufo several years earlier. While that alone would never lead me to automatically consider Bufo as a remedy, in this case it became relevant. The truth is that I have worked with several clients who had used Bufo, and each required unique remedies.

With my background in energy healing, I find it useful to discuss what I have observed when people are left energetically unmoored after a Bufo experience. Consistently, I find that the upper chakras seem to consume the majority of the life-force energy. This often leaves people feeling spacey, ungrounded, and ultimately unable to function fully in daily life.

These things happen. People make mistakes during periods of exploration, and thankfully homeopathy has tools to help.

Returning to my client, why did he present as Bufo Rana?

He was struggling with cognitive decline and had been through a difficult divorce. Over the previous three years, he had become progressively duller mentally, though he still experienced moments of childlike wonder and excitement. His overall emotional state was sad and depressed, yet there was also an immaturity in his presentation, particularly in the way he dressed. Though surrounded by people, he spent the majority of his time alone.

Then this is where I began to recognize the Bufo picture more clearly…

He described a hidden life that had contributed to his divorce, including sexual encounters with women to whom he did not even feel attracted. As we explored the issue more deeply, it became apparent he was driven by an impulsive instinct that he felt unable to control. Afterwards, he would feel guilty, depleted, and exhausted.

From the perspective of energy healing, I perceived the lower chakra as overactive, scattered, and damaged—something I had not observed in other Bufo clients.

What happens during a ceremony of this nature can manifest differently in each individual. In this particular case, the story unfolded in a way that surprised me. It ultimately called for tautopathy, and Bufo became the remedy through the Law of Similars.

For those who know Bufo well, the name Bufo rana may seem odd. At first glance it can sound like “toad frog,” especially if one is thinking in Spanish, where rana means frog and sapo means toad. However, Bufo and Rana are actually Latin taxonomic names used in the classification of amphibians. The remedy itself is unquestionably associated with the toad and the characteristic Bufo picture known to homeopaths.

Clearing this Bufo layer proved essential in helping my client regain his life. He recovered the mental strength and judgment needed to avoid unwanted behaviors and began reconnecting with his children.

In the search for healing, people sometimes become more lost than when they first began looking. Life is curious in that way. I am not here to tell people what they should or should not do. Rather, I am here for those who have taken a detour in the wrong direction and need guidance finding their way back to center.

Complex cases move forward when the underlying pattern is clarified, allowing decisions and interventions to be made with precision.
